ATJLF Unveils Legacy Phase
In January 2024, we commenced our three-year Legacy Phase (2024 – 2026). During this phase, which will culminate in ATJLF’s definitive sunset as an entity, our grant-making will expand beyond West Africa through the Initiative for Transitional Justice in Africa project. Long-term engagements with projects that have potential for sustainability will also be prioritized.

OUR IMPACT STORY
Passing of the Victims Reparations Bill in The Gambia
Through the unwavering advocacy of our partners in the Gambia, the Victims’ Reparations Bill was passed on 1 November 2023 by the legislature. This is a milestone towards justice for victims of human rights abuses during Jammeh’s dictatorship from 1994 to 2017. Sequel to the passing of the legislation, plans are ongoing to establish a Victims’ Reparation Commission. Watch our partners talk about what the legislation means for victims in the Gambia.
